UP THE REPUBLIC - Changes to English Monarchs laws of sucession show England can legislate for OZ and we ARNT INDEPENDENT

It was brought to my attention on SBS news (13/10/11) in an interview with former Justice Michael Kirby that the laws of succession relating to the ENGLISH monarch will be discussed at the next CHOGM meeting in Perth.

These issues relate to removing religious restrictions and so forth on the successors of QE2 under the covering clause of the Australian Constitution .

Whilst Mr Kirby is a monarchist , he is undoubtedly a preeminent person on human rights issues (a “hero judge”, and although he was agin me on the right to resist- and he was mistaken with respect) and constitutional law, he is also wise enough to know that the implication of changing the English laws of succession mean that the English parliament will be saying who can be our head of state. This shows in one fell swoop that England can pass laws for Australia that we are not in effect an independent sovereign state.

This can only be achieved by becoming a republic.

This is a great opportunity to explain just what the position is relating to whether our constitution can be amended or repealed by the English (whether that would be accepted is another matter).
