Million dollar spin hides Rudd government rights charter refusal
http://cynicismcentral.org/node/69
Once again the issue of Rudd government’s waste of taxpayers money has been exposed, this time by the government itself.
They held a public national consultation on whether Australia should have a charter of rights. This cost us millions.
Those smart enough to know the Rudd government’s response to said consultation - knew in advance that it was a sham.
Firstly :
• The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights already requires that all legislation and parliamentary deliberations be subject to it, its just that many ignore it;
• Already, at common law there is a “presumption in favour of liberty” that judicial officers can apply an ambiguous circumstances , its just that many ignore it;
• They can also chose to apply an interpretation in favour of international human rights and let governments chose to appeal , its just that many ignore it.
The Rudd mob said in their 07 platform that they would conform to international law but then rejected UN Human Rights Committee decisions.
Only those naive people who had residual amounts of hope and , quite stupidly (including some in the greens ) , “faith” in these “miscreant malefactors” in the federal parliamentary labor party- actually believed their spin and lies.
Surprise-surprise people, KRUDDs mob says no charter of rights! But they might do the things they are already required to do!
Its no wonder Rudd chose former Townsville Mayor Tony Mooney to run for the federal seat of Herbert, he is no fan of the right to free speech , especially if its critical of him or the labor party.
First it was Howard with the 180mil sham republic referendum, now Rudd and McLelland with their sham human rights consultation costing millions.
Doesn’t cost anything to say no, but millions to make people believe you actually thought about it. That, ladies and gentlemen of the public is the height of cynicism.
