The Queensland Crime and Misconduct Commission has slammed the Qld cops culture of coverup in their non investigation of the death in custody of Mulrunji on Palm Island Qld Australia.

In coming to its conclusions in relation to the police investigation of the death of Mulrunji, the CMC and its chair have referred a lack of will to investigate police and to a culture of cover up and police protecting their own .

Once again the issue of Rudd government’s waste of taxpayers money has been exposed, this time by the government itself.

They held a public national consultation on whether Australia should have a charter of rights. This cost us millions.

Both Terry OGorman (Council for civil liberties) and Bill Carter, a former Qld judge, have called for cops not to be allowed to investigate themselves in light of the recent handing down of a CMC report detailing corruption by a large number of Qld Police. No doubt the Palm Island matters have also informed their views.
Mr OGorman also calls for a dedicated section within the CMC to exclusively deal with complaints to take it out of the hands of police and government agencies.
